The Easiest Biscuit Recipe of Your Life

Growing up my mom cooked almost five nights a week. Freshly baked biscuits were always a staple around the dinner table. Nothing was better than eating a warm biscuit with my grandmother’s homemade plum jam. Biscuits were also a must for any meals served with gravy. Remembering these fond memories I had of hot biscuits from the oven, I decided to search for a recipe I could keep on hand when I make a home cooked meal.

I came across a Q&A on the Lodge Cast Iron Instagram all about biscuits. I quickly whipped out my pin and paper to take notes. The recipe was as follows:

Preheat oven to 450.

Mix together 2 cups of self-rising flour & 1 cup of heavy whipping cream.

Rollout the dough to a half inch thickness and cut into circles.

Place biscuits into ungreased cast iron pan.

Brush tops of biscuits with egg wash or buttermilk before baking.

Bake for 10-14 minutes.

It’s just that easy! I made this recipe twice. Each batch yielded seven biscuits.

Do you have a go to biscuit recipe? Does breaking bread at the dinner table bring back memories of family get togethers? If so, please share it with me.
